WHAT TO EXPECT

Living in God's amazing grace...


At Bible Baptist Church, we understand that we are all sinners in need of the miraculous work that only God, the Holy Spirit can do in the repentant heart.  We also understand that the only true way to find one's way to God is through the clear teaching of the Word of God.  The Bible is our book of choice.  We read it, study it, and preach it.  When you come to Bible Baptist Church, you will find friendly sinners who have been changed by the grace of God and are excited about what He is doing in their everyday life.

We are a diverse group of believers – blue collar and white collar workers, school teachers, musicians, IT people, house wives, fathers, mothers, grandparents, children, public servants, business owners, nurses, and more – united by our shared faith in a loving God who saves sinners. Bible Baptist Church is interested in the whole person, and we desire to make people feel welcome. You will find friendly people, singing praises to our God, and challenging preaching from the Word of God. We are focused on living our life the way Jesus would have us to.

Our church is located on 10 beautiful acres in rural Greenville County with a view of the mountains to the North.

If you attend on a Sunday, you will be greeted by caring people who wish to make you welcome. If you have small children, we will show you the nursery. If you are attending Sunday School, we will show you to your classes, and for worship services, we meet in the auditorium.

During our worship service we will have a time for announcements, singing of hymns and songs of worship, a message from the Bible, sometimes an invitation to respond to the message, and a closing prayer. At the same time as the morning worship service, we have Children's Church for children between the ages of K4 and 5th grade, providing them an opportunity to sing and learn about God through age-appropriate lessons and activities.

If you visit on a Wednesday evening, you will find people who have gathered to pray for the needs of the church family and others. During the hour we meet, we will sing a song, have a brief Bible study, share praises and prayer requests and break off into small prayer groups to pray. After our prayer time, we close with a verse from a song out of our hymnal.

Bible Baptist Church, originally named Circle J Bible Baptist Church, was founded in the home of Oscar and Ellen Edmonds in 1975. On May 25, 1975, the church began meeting in an A-Frame building on Coaster Road, less than a mile from our current location. There were 52 people in attendance at that first service, and the church quickly began to grow. With a heart for missions, the church quickly started supporting their first missionaries - the Rutledges to England.

In 1983, the owner of the A-Frame building sold the property, and the church was forced to find another place to meet. As a result, the church purchased an old store, located on the property of the current church location. The church name was then changed to Bible Baptist Church.

In 1990, Pastor Edmonds retired, and Assistant Pastor Ken Kimbrill became pastor. Nine years later, the church purchased the 7.5 acres where the current church building is located.

In 2004, the Lord led Pastor Ron Vitosky to be the pastor of Bible Baptist Church.

In 2010, construction began on the current church building. The Lord sent Carpenters for Christ to help frame the building and do the roof. With their help and that of so many others, Bible Baptist Church held their first service in their current building in February of 2011.
